The Second Presbyterian Church of Glendermott, built in 1740, located southeast of Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Robert Gilfillan, who came to South Carolina from Northern Ireland about 1822, probably attended this church as a boy. Other early members probably included Robert Gilfillan (Robert’s father), Joseph Gilfillan (Robert’s uncle), and Alexander Gilfillan (Robert’s first cousin who was surgeon on the ship HMS Trent on the first expedition to find the Northwest Passage in 1817). In 1995, the church was being used as a carpet warehouse.
